Denim co is among the oldest types of fashion available. Its commonly known for its comfort and durability. The name “denim” was first included in Webster's dictionary in 1864 and many speculate that it was acquired from a French phrase known as “Serge de Nimes”. The word jeans was gotten from the sailors of Genoa who were referred to as “Genes”. “Dungaree”, a Hindi word, was also used for denim and it was mainly used to refer to a piece of cloth that was mostly worn by Dhunga sailors.”Dungaree” is used to refer to a blue denim fabric. It originated from Dongari Killa in Mumbai, India during the 17th century.
In the year 1817 U.S. Navy servicemen were allowed to wear the dungaree outfit because it was long-lasting and could easily be fooled while they were at work. In 1853 during the gold rush, Loeb Strauss began a business that delivered long-lasting clothes to people who used to work in mines. Their pockets could be easily torn due to the nature of their work. A tailor from Nevada called Jacob Davis made jeans that had copper-rivets so as to help prevent wear and tear of pockets. He gave out the idea of using rivets on pockets in 1872 to Strauss who later changed his name from Leob to Levi. During the following year, Strauss received a patent for designing the pocket rivet and together with Davis they proceeded to manufacture blue denim referred to as “waist overall” for the mine workers.
Blue jeans patent was issued on 20th May 1873 and this date is literally recognized as the release date of the first blue jeans. Initially, Indigo dye was used for colouring the jeans and the first blue denim was developed from interweaving white and blue threads. Earlier on denim was worn by miners and mechanics. Influence of film and music industry led to the use of jeans trend as a fashion statement in the 1950s. James Dean and Marlon Brando were two among the many actors and performers who universalized denim co. During that time, denim symbolized rebellion and youth. Stone washing technique in the 1970s changed the manufacturing of denim and since then people from all walks of life and ages started wearing denim. Denim was among the most popular fashion brands and millions from all over the world.

Customized denim became a very popular trend because many felt that it provided the wearer with an opportunity to creatively express themselves through the jeans.
